     Electronic literature is a kind of hypertext. It is a literary genre which consists of literature works and requires digital equipment to be read.

     There are a lot of advantages of the electronic literature. First of all, most of the electronic literature is searchable, thus readers can easily search key words if they want to read specific materials. And electronic literature are often free, they help more readers be accessible to the literature works. Since electronic literature is read on computer, smart phone or any digital devices, reads it can be read at any time as long as there is a device at hand. Besides, reading online can be easily recorded where you stop and next time you open your material, you can continue reading instead of spending time finding which page you are going to start. In addition, electronic literature can save the cost and save paper in order to protect the environment.

     Although electronic literature brings a lot of convenience, the limitation of the electronic literature is also obvious. For example, looking at the computer screen or smart phone screen is not good for people’s eyes and health. And it’s easier to take notes when doing a reading on a print book than online material. Besides, there are often some advertisement on the website to attract readers thus influence reading. Moreover, technology problems happen sometimes and it’s difficult to figure out. It will not only influence the readers’ mood while reading, but also reduce the reading efficiency. Furthermore, print books have a higher value of the collection while sometimes the online works are more like fast-food culture that means people just scan it and forget it quickly.

     The benefits and the limitation of the electronic literature influence a lot on our group’s work. The convenience of the electronic literature helps increase the efficiency of our work. Because of the technology, when we edit a piece of fiction, we can easily add our comments on the paper wherever we want in the word document. It’s much quicker than handwriting all those words down on paper. And when we need to contact with the author of a piece of fiction, we can send him or her an email with an attachment of our feedback. Then the authors check their email and can get our comments at once. It’s easier than printing all them out and give them our feedback face to face. However, the technology problem also troubled us. Once we had a meeting and discussed how to edit one piece of fiction, we added our comments in the word document. When we almost finished it, the computer suddenly shut down. We didn’t save our work and we needed to do that again.
