I choose a story named Death in the woods from narrative magazine. It is a story about a poor and elderly woman, Mrs.Grimes, who had a pathetic life and finnaly died quietly and lonely in the winter. I love this story because it exposes and reflects women’s tragic life in patriarchy society through depicting Mrs.Grimes’s hard life. Readers would think a lot after reading. 

In this story, there are some details that are worth to analyze. Firstly, there is little dialogue in the story. The whole story was in silence. Grimes spoke a little and almost no one talked to her. Little people knew her so that no one recognized who she was after Grimes’s corpse had been found for a long time. She was totally ignored by the society. Second point is that when Grimes’s son brought a girl to house and got drunk. Author described that grimes did not mind much. She was used to it. Grimes had become numb and had no temper at all. She even forgot how to complain and seemed she was nothing to express. What her daily work is to get everything fed, and then to exchange for some necessaries to maintain her life so that she could live to fed stock. She followed such kind of a circle everyday without conscious. But she never thought to change her life and improve her social status. Maybe only she died, can she died.

Everyone would meet dilemma in our daily life more or less. What is dilemma? Dilemma is a moment that only two choices in front of you and each choice is difficult for you to choose. Here I am going to talk about a dilemma that maybe only exists in china. When you see an elderly man or woman fall down, will you hold him or her up. First I should tell you why it will be a dilemma. One or two years ago, a kind young man held up an elderly man who fell down. It was unexpectable that this old man said it that young man who shoved him down. Since there was no eyewitness and camera aroud, no one could tell who was the lier. This young man had been in jail for several months. This kind of thing does not happen once. Many people are afraid to help old people. If you choose to hold old man up, you are likely to be in trouble. If you choose to not help him, you probably would blame yourself. If I see a old man fell down, I would choose to help him but I need a eyewitness aside.

This week is the first week of school after a great summer vacation. We did not have much homework to do this week, so we gathered together and shared interesting and exciting experiments we’d done and seen in vacation with others. Shared happiness is double happiness！I love experience sharing! In the vacation, we were not just having fun. Some took examinations of TOEFL and some took examinations of IELTS. I did the IELTS test, but the score was not much satisfying. I would be likely to take the test again.     

I become a junior this year. I know this year will be a challenging year. I am going to do a lot of things and make some significant choices. I promise I will challenge myself to reach higher this year.
